I wish I'd thought of that myself

John Hampshire is an outlet for miscellaneous rantings. Many stories are based on conversations after a couple of glasses of Merlot.

He was going to write some profound comments about the issues connected with plagiarism - but he couldn't find anything to copy.

For many years, and for reasons more complicated than you can imagine, he was restricted to producing items of 500 words or less, and he was returning to each piece and developing the ideas. However this process seems to be effective in increasing bulk, but not quality.

Generally, discipline of producing items with a restricted number of words, has resulted in pieces of more interest. (It's a pity that our Politicians don't adopt the same strategy).

John is particularly fond of using the Ellipsis punctuation  ... but - is not adverse to liberal use of the Emdash. The Semicolon has no role in his vocabulary.

It would also be wise to remember that John has a big dog, speaks softly and carries a stick.
